EL SOBRANTE (CBS) — A dangerous hazard caused forced the closure of a Contra Costa County road on Tuesday morning. CHP says about 2,000 used hypodermic needles spilled onto the street in El Sobrante, CBS SF reports.
Officers say the incident happened on Santa Rita Road near Appian Way, and was called in just after 5 a.m., the website reports. Both directions of Santa Rita Road had been closed as crews swept up the needles.
Contra Costa County fire and hazardous materials crews were still on the scene two hours later, according to the CHP.
